By Corry Black
Columbus,GA- Basketball Season is just around the corner in Georgia, we stopped in at the Perfect Practice Invite Only “Sunday School” Preseason Workout and came away impress with some of the prospects that were on display. Bryant Thomas the CEO of Perfectionhoops.com Invited some of the top players in the area to a 1 day workout to get an inside look on the talent before High School basketball practice starts in Georgia next week. We will cover some of the Players from event below.
2015 6’7 Jordan Young (Albany High, GA)
Every College Coach at least in the southeast will be making their way to Albany,GA sooner than later , because every coach in the Country needs an Athletic Post Player. Young is a Sleeper in South Georgia that nobody knows about he has decent footwork and can run the floor well. Young showed signs of stepping out making the 3 Ball. Young is a Hungry kid that can develop into a Nice Post Player for a 4yr or 2 yr Program.
2016 6’8 Davion “Tree” Thomas (Northside-Columbus GA)
Davion Thomas has a World of potential, he is long and athletic and has improve his Ball Handling which is making him more comfortable on wing. Right now Thomas is a Face Up 4Man that can also make the 3. Thomas Needs get stronger and once he does that watch you have a No Brainer High Major Player. Thomas dominated the scrimmage portion of the workout with 3 Monster Put back dunks and led the Scrimmage with 18pts.Couple High major Programs have been in to see him this fall.
2015 6’1 Carl Ivey (Columbus HS,GA)
Looking for a Player with Grades you need to be heading over to Columbus HS and finding Mr.Ivey. Ivey had a Great day at the Workout, ran the team without turning ball over and got in the paint all day long and made the right plays for his team. Good kid that plays hard on both ends of the Floor. Coaches call up George Williams and get in on Ivey.
2016 5’10 LaJarius Billingsley (Hardaway HS,GA)
Young and Talented is what comes to mind when I watched the Junior guard perform on Sunday, he has a chance to develop into one of the better players in the area. He is a smooth 2 guard right now that needs to get stronger and become more aggressive. I am sure he will do both and more since he is playing for 2 good coaches in Kendall Mills and Pershin Williams, they will get everything out of this young fella. He is one to keep an eye on in the 2016 class.
2016 5’11 Josh Copeland (Harris Co. GA)
Copeland is getting better and better every time I watch him he is a Player that is committed to the game, doing whatever it takes to get to the next level. I have seen Copeland in “Perfect Practice” Grind Sessions plenty of times, and he works and works his tail off. Copeland is starting to develop a nice feel for the Point Guard spot and he is also getting stronger. Coaches are always looking for players that “Play Hard” well go sign Copeland Up because he does that.
